San Franciso 49ers remain unbeaten as they crack whip on the Dallas Cowboys

“There are still areas where we can get better,” says San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy as his side picks up another victory to match a franchise record as they earn their fifth 5-0 start.

In what is a dream start to their 2023 NFL campaign, the 49ers find themselves as one of just two undefeated sides, along with the Philadelphia Eagles. After dominating all of the fixtures the side has played so far, they finished this match with the highest score of their season so far 42-10, as they faced off against the strongest defence in the league.

Speaking after the victory, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, however, was not getting too ahead of himself and his side’s results so far this season.

He said: “Obviously, we feel good with where we’re at, but there are still areas where we can get better at.

“Right now, it feels like everyone is on a mission. The mindset is right, everyone is really detailed in what they do, and the play calls are great.

“All I’ve got to do is go out there and do my job, and that’s it. Go play ball.”

Purdy made life difficult for the Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott all night as he was sacked three times and heaved an interception into double coverage after Dallas fell behind 28-10 in the third quarter.

In what was quite the double act in the match, Purdy and tight end George Kittle worked together with Kittle describing this as “one of the best performances” he has seen from his side.

“I think it’s one of our best team performances.

“On “Sunday Night Football,” it’s my favourite night to play because everybody’s watching… For us to go out like that.

“You talk about our defence. Fred Warner played a hell of a game tonight – interception, forced fumble, a bunch of tackles. Our whole D-line was fantastic.

“Then you look at our special teams. Mitch Wishnowsky just can’t not punt it great. He’s been fantastic.

“All those punts inside the 10 and the five, it’s really difficult for an offence to deal with that, especially because our fans are really loud.

“George Odum is fantastic; he had all those tackles on special teams. He really sets the tone and gets the crowd going.

“And then every time you put the ball in one of our skill positions hands, they have an opportunity to score a touchdown.

“We have a really good team, we’re healthy, and we’re clicking right now.”

This defeat saw the most one-sided result for the Cowboys since 2013.

Up next, The 49ers travel to face the Cleveland Browns, while the Cowboys head to the home of the LA Chargers in their next match in pursuit of getting their season back on track.
