Austin Ekeler set to return for the Chargers v Cowboys

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is “feeling really good” and says there is a 99% chance he will make his comeback against the Dallas Cowboys following an injury sustained in week one.

The meeting between the two sides will be the first appearance for Ekeler since the Chargers’ loss to the Miami Dolphins in which he suffered a high right ankle sprain. After there was no official team injury report put out on Tuesday, Ekeler told reporters that he was a full participant in practice with no ankle brace.

Ekeler said: “I feel good. I feel really good. I felt like I probably could’ve played during the bye week if I had a game then.

“It’s taken a little to get back just to being around football, reactive stuff, things like that.

“But it’s something that we’ll work into this week and be ready to go.”

The Chargers are heading into the fixture off the back of two wins on the bounce and the boost of having Ekeler returning to the lineup will be invaluable.

Last season Ekeler led the team in targets (127) and receptions (107), and with receiver Mike Williams now out with a season-ending ACL tear, the Chargers will need reliable pass-catchers like Ekeler.
