Eagles sign veteran WR Julio Jones

Eagles sign veteran WR Julio Jones

The Philadelphia Eagles have added to their already strong offense by signing seven-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Julio Jones on a one-year contract.

Jones, who was viewed as the league’s best wideout during the 2010s, was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the end of last season after failing to earn a new contract.

The 34-year-old comes in as the Eagles recently placed Quez Watkins on injured reserve after sustaining a hamstring injury. This will be Jones’ fourth team in as many years.

He comes to the Eagles holding the most career receiving yards of any active player in the NFL, which stands at 13,629.

The team expects Jones to be able to get up to speed quickly, given his experience in the game, and is hoping for him to bring his great work ethic and talent to the side in what has been a fantastic start to the season for the Eagles.

They suffered their first defeat of the season against the New York Jets on Sunday after being one of two unbeaten teams left heading into week 6.
