Barcelona will display the Rolling Stones’ iconic tongue and lips logo on their shirts for the Clasico clash with Real Madrid on October 28.
Releasing their first original material in 18 years, the Stones’ new album Hackney Diamonds is being released on October 20. To mark that, Barcelona shirt sponsors Spotify will have its logo replaced with the tongue and lips in two exclusive matchday jersey editions.
Barcelona marketing area vice-president Juli Guiu said: “[this] has taken things to the next level. Bringing together two icons – The Rolling Stones logo and the Barca jersey.
“[It] is a special moment for our fans around the world.
“Music and football form a special partnership with a long future ahead of them and we are happy to add another chapter to the story alongside Spotify.”
The Stones were equally excited at the link-up.
“We’re huge football fans and honoured that Spotify have brought our Tongue & Lips logo to grace the FC Barcelona shirt to celebrate the release of the Stones’ new ‘Hackney Diamonds’ album,” the band said in a statement.
“We’ll be cheering on the players on the pitch as well as fans around the world who will be tuning in to watch this iconic match.”
