Quinton De Kock smashed his third century of the 2023 World Cup as South Africa thrashed Bangladesh by 149 runs.
De Kock followed up tons against Sri Lanka and Australia with a magnificent 174 – the highest score of the tournament – as the Proteas made 382 for five from their 50 overs.
Bangladesh’s reply never got going with Marco Jansen taking two wickets in two balls to reduce the Tigers to 30 for two that soon became 58 for five. The lower order did show plenty of fight, though, led by the experienced Mahmudullah, who hit a brilliant 111.

Given his form so far in India, getting De Kock early was key for Bangladesh but, despite making inroads with the wickets of Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen, the prize target remained elusive.
And with Aiden Markram also in good touch, South Africa were able to set a platform with the pair putting on 131 for the third wicket.
Markram fell for 60 but that brought Heinrich Klaasen to the crease, and he and De Kock upped the tempo considerably, smashing the Bangladesh attack all over the Wankhede Stadium.
Having put on 142 in less than 15 overs, De Kock sliced a Hasan Mahmud delivery to Nasum Ahmed at deep backward point. His knock came off 140 balls and included 15 fours and seven sixes.
Klaasen fell 10 shy of a deserved century, his 90 coming off 49 balls and a 15-ball 34 from David Miller pushed South Africa beyond the 350-mark
Jansen’s early breakthroughs effectively ended the game as a contest despite Mahmudullah’s best efforts.
