Eagles lead NFL 8-1 after victory over Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles battled to a “gritty and tough win” at home against a determined Dallas Cowboys side to lead the NFL 8-1 going into the Week 10 bye.

The visitors did not make the game easy for the Eagles as quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has been dealing with knee pain for the past few weeks, battled through to help his side secure the victory.

Speaking after the game, Hurts said: “It was a gritty win, it was a tough win.

“Much respect to that team. Always very competitive and have great players.”

Despite a direct hit to his injured left knee late in the first half, causing him to leave the field, Hurts was back out to ensure his side entered the bye week on a positive.

A bye week that, for the Eagles and Hurts, certainly comes at a much-needed time.

“I don’t think the bye week could come at a better time,” said Hurts.

“I’d love to be all good.

“But I’d do anything for this city and for my teammates.

“Simply put, whatever it takes. I’m just happy we were able to gut out this win.

“We showed so much resilience.”
