Curry’s three-point streak ends at 268 games

Steph Curry’s run of 268 games with at least one three-pointer came to an end on Sunday – with Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr demanding his players do more to support the star point guard.

Curry failed to sink any of eight efforts from beyond the arc although Golden State still managed to triumph 118-114 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The last time he failed to sink a three-pointer came on November 8, 2018 against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Kerr said: “We can’t rely on Steph to bail us out on every single night. It was a tough night for him. But that’s what a team is supposed to be about – everybody filling in for each other, different guys stepping up each night.

“That’s a great sign, because he’s carried us for long enough this year. We need to give him more help.”

Klay Thompson starred on Curry’s quiet night, pouring in 28 points while Andrew Wiggins added 25.

Thompson said: “We played well as a team, other guys stepped up when they were needed most, especially our rookies. Chris Paul, what a game he had.”

On Curry, he added: “Steph is one of the best leaders I’ve ever been around. I have never seen him take a short cut, never seen him cheat the game. He never changes his demeanour, he is still the same joyful person and leader.”
