Buffalo Bills make Joe Brady full-time offensive coordinator

The Buffalo Bills have handed interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady the role on a permanent basis after he helped inspire the team’s turnaround in the latter stages of the 2023 season.

Brady took the position on a temporary basis after Ken Dorsey was fired on November 14, when the Bills had a 5-5 record and had lost four of their last six games.

They ultimately finished 11-6 to win the AFC East for a fourth successive season, before overcoming the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-17 in their wild-card matchup.

However, the Kansas City Chiefs ended the Bills’ Super Bowl hopes in the divisional round, winning 27-24 in Buffalo as Patrick Mahomes threw two touchdown passes to Travis Kelce.

As the team look to go further in the 2024 season, quarterback Josh Allen endorsed Brady for the full-time OC position, and that appointment was finalised on Sunday.

Brady was initially hired as the team’s quarterbacks coach in 2022 when Dorsey came in as OC. He helped the Bills win six of their final seven games to end the 2023 regular season.

Asked about the possibility of Brady staying on, Allen had said: “I would fully embrace it. I love Joe. I love what he brings to this team, to our offense, the juice that he has, the passion he has for football.

“I would fully embrace that. Obviously, there’s stuff that needs to go on before that. I understand there’s probably an interview process and all that, but he’s got my vote.”
