Former NFL first-round draft pick Damon Arnette was arrested on gun and meth charges in Texas, according to a report.
Cornerback Arnette, who joined the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 but was released less than two years later when a video emerged of him waving weapons, received a community sentence in May 2023 over an incident involving Las Vegas casino valets and a firearm.
The 27-year-old has been charged with possession of less than a gram of recreational methamphetamine and unlawfully carrying a firearm, NFL Network has said.
Arnette’s legal counsel said reports of the arrest were “simply incorrect”, adding that he was unable to provide officers with a prescription for a “lawful medication”.

‘The arrest was predicated on Mr. Arnette being unable to prove the medication was prescribed,” Jason Lampert, of Salzano, Ettinger, Lampert & Wilson, LLP and Thomas Wynne, of Milner Wynne, said in a statement to NFL media.
“Had he been able to do so at the time of the stop, there would have been no arrest for either the controlled substance of the firearms.’
Damon Arnette previous charges
Arnette joined the Raiders as the 19th overall pick in the 2020 draft, making nine appearances in his rookie season and four in his second campaign before his release.
The former Ohio State player was dropped in November 2020 following the video in which he also repeatedly threatened to kill someone.
Arnette was handed 50 hours of community service and a $2,000 fine after reportedly producing a gun at the Park MGM Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.
After being indicted on felony gun charges, he was told by a judge to stay away from firearms.
He had joined Kansas City Chiefs at the time but was released when the allegations arose.
