Russell Wilson is reportedly in talks with both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the New York Giants following the veteran quarterback’s release by the Denver Broncos.
The Broncos took an NFL-record $85million hit in dead money when they released Wilson earlier this week, two years after acquiring him in a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks.
Denver failed to enjoy a winning season with Wilson at quarterback, going 5-12 in 2022 and 8-9 in 2023, and their most recent playoff appearance remains their Super Bowl run with Peyton Manning to cap the 2015 campaign.

The Broncos have given Wilson permission to open talks with interested parties before the new league year begins on March 13, and according to ESPN, two teams have already made their moves.
Wilson reportedly held an “exploratory meeting” with the Giants on Thursday and will do likewise with the Steelers on Friday.
The Las Vegas Raiders are also expected to hold discussions with the Super Bowl XLVIII champion, while the Minnesota Vikings could also come into contention as Kirk Cousins prepares to test free agency.

Kenny Pickett is the only quarterback currently under contract with the Steelers, who fell to the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round last season.
Mason Rudolph, who took Pickett’s starting place towards the end of the campaign after the 2022 first-round pick suffered an ankle injury, is set to enter free agency, though the team have expressed an interest in re-signing him.
The Giants, meanwhile, are sure to pick up a quarterback in either free agency or in April’s draft, with Daniel Jones recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament tear and Tyrod Taylor out of contract.
The Giants, who went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the sixth time in seven seasons in 2023, hold the sixth overall pick in the draft.
