Linebacker Josh Allen has said he is “grateful” and will “make good” on a $150 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars which will reportedly guarantee the 26-year-old $88m from the NFL team.
Two-time Pro Bowler Allen’s deal will make him one of the highest paid defensive players in the NFL, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, via NFL.com.
The 6ft 5in former All-Rookie team selection voiced his satisfaction with the Jaguars “putting their faith in me once again”.
“Five years ago – as a first-round pick – and again today, they’ve shown that they believe in my talent and value my contributions to this team,” Allen said in a statement on Wednesday, thanking his family.
“I’m prepared to make good on their investment and do whatever it takes to bring a championship to Jacksonville. It’s always been my goal to leave a legacy wherever I go and I’m proud that work continues in Duval.”

Allen’s 45 career sacks in five seasons is second to defensive end Tony Brackens’ 55, including a franchise-record 17.5 sacks last time out which tied him for second in the NFL over the campaign.
“Josh is a true pro who has developed into one of the top-producing defensive players at his position in the NFL and a cornerstone of our defence,” Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said.
“He is a leader on and off the field and we are excited for Josh and his family, as well as our fanbase.”

Josh Allen salary, contract
Allen’s new deal, which makes him the third of the Jaguars’ 14 first-round draft picks between 2008 to 2020 to sign an extension, pays an average salary per year of $30m.
He had until July 15 to agree a long-term extension to replace his one-year franchise tag contract, which would have paid slightly more than $24m in 2024.
Speaking about the deal, Allen added: “There are too many words going on in my head that I want to say. I can’t really express it right now but, in due time, I will express how I really feel.
“I want to cry, I’m so happy. The job’s not done yet, that’s what I want to tell the fanbase… I’ve got to win a Super Bowl and be the MVP. I’m not going to stop until I get that. That’s motivating me – that’s bigger than money.”
