Former Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers star Richard Sherman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence on Saturday morning, the Washington State Patrol has confirmed.
Sherman, who is regarded as one of the greatest cornerbacks in NFL history, spent seven seasons in Seattle and helped the team win Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014.
He then represented San Francisco for three years before enduring one injury-hit season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, though he never formally announced his retirement upon leaving the franchise and taking up a role as an analyst.

On Saturday, the three-time All-Pro was reportedly stopped and breathalysed by police, with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office saying in a statement that he would attend a court hearing on Monday.
In 2022, Sherman pleaded guilty to two misdemeanour charges regarding drunken driving and domestic disturbance from the previous year.
