LeBron James: Ankle flares again in Sacramento defeat

LeBron James is a doubt for the Los Angeles Lakers’ clash with the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday after limping out of last night’s defeat to the Sacramento Kings.

James contributed 31 points and 13 assists in 36 minutes before departing late on as the Kings emerged 130-120 winners.

The 39-year-old explained it was not a new injury but the continuation of the ankle problem that has been troubling him for several weeks.

“I’ll be all right. It’s just my ankle,” he said.

“It’s just what I’ve been dealing with before the [All-Star] break, after the break. I’m just managing it the best way I can.

“I played the whole [of the] third, sat a little bit to start the fourth, and when I got back in, it kind of just…it’s just something I’ve been dealing with.”

He added: ”Some games are better than others. I didn’t feel it at all against OKC [on Monday]. And I didn’t feel it at all until the fourth quarter tonight. So, each game, each day is different.”

De’Aaron Fox scored 44 points to help the Kings inflict a damaging defeat on the Lakers, who dropped to 10th in the West.

Anthony Davis, who scored just 14 points, said: “It sucks. Especially in a must-win game that we needed. We needed to get this one.

“We know the position we’re in for our seeding, every game matters so I think we’re pretty good.”
